This article in Business Week raises a big concern. It is difficult to loose 17.000 Jobs, maybe more in the longer run. And here I go, I no economist, but I have do have a little bit of common sense. Are we not going to need people to work on cleaning all this up? How many jobs can that create? not just now, but over the next few years (assuming they do actually clean it)

BP not Sending the Claim Checks as they promised
They are not really making it easy for no body. They are changing the system on how they deploy the checks, and all the checks for July seem to be late!
Let's hope is just a delay on the payment and it will be fixed.

This video made in New Orleans, straight from the gulf coast, tells us an alarming fact. The oil that is now in the waters and around is in fact very bad for everyone who is there.

Oil Splash - the PSA to raise awareness on the Oil Spill
A few weeks ago I started a fund raising to make a video PSA of around 1 minute, to call the attention to BPs responsibility on the Oil Spill. In a month we got 1655$ contributed.
We are very happy to say that we are going into production with the video, and although we will have to cut some costs in the shoot, we will make it happen through donations of talented people who will give us their day of work for the cause.
The video is signed by this blog, but we are open to co-sign with an institution that would bring a stronger call to action that this blog can give.

Stopping our oil dependancy
The oil spill is not only BP's fault (although it is their responsibility). The real solution here is to stop needing oil. Of course this will not happen instantly, and there are obviously many things we use daily that are made from oil. But we have to start thinking and acting on how to stop that oil addiction.
Repower America is doing just that. And you can help them!

Oxfarm America has put together a Gulf-Coast-Relieve Fund where you can donate some of your money to help.

Why I don’t think BP should be boycotted
BP messed up big time! Sure did, but if we start boycotting the oil company we are going to make it harder for them (and us) to clean up their mess.
Her is how it work: BP makes certain amount of money, a big percentage of that is profit, sure. But if we strip that profit away from them, they will be struggling with their regular costs of operation, plus the costs of the disaster and paying all the claims.
So I propose we don’t boycott BP. I propose we take this experience of the last several weeks, to understand that we have to stop depending on such a toxic thing like Petroleum. I know this is not easy. There are thousands of things we use daily that come from oil. We cannot just stop using them next week. But we can start making sense of what things we keep throwing away over and over again (plastic cups, one example) with out realizing we are really hurting ourselves doing so.
So no, we should not boycott BP more than we should boycott ourselves. We should hold BP responsible for what they did, but not forget that it is everyone’s problem, and the Oil Spill is not going to cleanup itself, nor will just BP clean it.

Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida
If you are around the Pensacola area, or can go there, here is the website and information for the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida

So if you really want to help rescuing wildlife in the area, it's best to do it with them. They have information on volunteering and a thought out Rescue Plans on their site.

Volunteer to help in the Gulf Coast
The best way to volunteer to help out in Gulf Coast is by registering or calling one of the websites the Gulf of Mexico States have set up.
Please note that local volunteers will probably have priority, so make sure you have a clear goal and skill that you can bring into the coast if you are from other states.

Save Wildlife in the Gulf
The most affected by all this will be the wild life. They really don't even have the ability to claim anything from BP, the ones responsible for the spill.
